ROAST APPLE ¿
2D ANIMATION
On Christmas Day, the protagonist receives a letter and a gift from his mother—an apple he doesn’t like. After taking a bite, he still finds it hard to swallow, so he decides to put it in the oven. Just then, the doorbell rings: a courier delivers another apple, sent by his lover, reading out a cheesy love note on the package. Helplessly, he places both apples into the oven. As they heat up, the two apples begin to spin and merge, beating like a heart. In the end, the apples transform into a glowing version of himself, tenderly embracing him.

DOWN-TO-EARTH
3D ANIMATION
The story follows a young girl struggling to create a drawing that satisfies her. Overwhelmed by frustration, she is momentarily comforted by her cat, whose playful nature gradually shifts her mood. When the cat rolls a crumpled sketch back to her, the line between imagination and reality begins to blur. Guided by her cat, she enters a dreamlike world where creativity flows freely. By the end, her sketchbook is filled—not with perfection—but with genuine affection and inspiration.

The Young Widow’s Visit to the Grave
STOP MOTION
(Group made with Xinxin Zhang,Yucong Sun)
We based this project on a traditional folk tune from Zhejiang Province titled “The Young Widow’s Visit to the Grave.” The story tells of a widow’s tragic fate, ending with a somewhat bittersweet resolution. Similar to “Rickshaw Boy,” it captures a cycle of hope and despair, evoking both irony and empathy.
Our creative approach draws inspiration from the tune’s humorous and playful rhythm, reinterpreting it with elements of Chinese gothic horror. Visually, the piece takes cues from picture book design, featuring stylized flat patterns outlined with golden strokes to create a sense of traditional ornamentation and tension between beauty and eeriness.
